UNLOCK THE MAGIC OF SPRING WITH THESE DECORATING TIPS

As the weather warms up and the flowers start to bloom, it's natural to want to bring a bit of that freshness into your home. But what if you're on a tight budget? Don't fret - there are plenty of creative spring decorating ideas that won't break the bank. From maximizing natural light to incorporating DIY decor, we've got you covered. So, get ready to transform your home into a spring oasis with these affordable and easy tips.

MAXIMIZE NATURAL LIGHT

One of the easiest ways to transform your home for spring is by maximizing natural light. This not only brightens up your space but also makes it feel bigger and more open. Start by removing any heavy curtains or drapes that block natural light from coming in. Instead, opt for sheer or lightweight curtains that will let in as much sunlight as possible.

Another way to maximize natural light is by adding mirrors to your space. Mirrors reflect light and can make your room feel brighter and more spacious. You can also strategically place your furniture to allow light to move freely throughout your space. This means avoiding blocking windows with bulky furniture or arranging seating to face the source of natural light.

Now that you've let the light in, it's time to embrace pastels. Soft pastel colors, like pale pink, baby blue, or light green, are perfect for spring. They add a touch of freshness and serenity to any room. You can incorporate pastels in your decor by adding throw pillows or blankets, swapping out your bedding, or even painting an accent wall. The possibilities are endless, and the best part is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to achieve this look.

By maximizing natural light and embracing pastels, you can easily transform your home into a spring oasis without breaking the bank.

EMBRACE PASTELS

Soft pastel colors are the perfect addition to any spring decor. They evoke feelings of tranquility and new beginnings, and they're easy to incorporate into your existing decor. A simple way to add pastels to your home is with throw pillows or blankets. Swap out your heavier winter bedding for lighter pastel-colored sheets and blankets for an instant refresh.

If you're feeling particularly ambitious, consider painting an accent wall in a pastel shade. This is a great way to add some color to your space without overwhelming it. And if you're worried about the cost of a fresh coat of paint, consider using peel and stick wallpaper in a pastel print or pattern.

Embracing pastels doesn't have to break the bank. By making some small changes, you can transform your space into a spring oasis. And the best part? Pastels pair perfectly with floral accents, which we'll discuss next.

ADD FLORAL ACCENTS

Pastels are the perfect backdrop for adding some floral accents to your spring decor. Consider adding a vase of fresh flowers to your dining table or coffee table. If fresh flowers are not in your budget, faux floral arrangements can also add a pop of color and bring some life to your space. An easy DIY floral accent is to create a wreath of faux flowers to hang on your front door or in your living room.

But don't stop there, you can also add some floral patterns to your decor. Switch out your throw pillows or curtains for ones with a floral print. A floral tablecloth or placemats can also add a touch of spring to your kitchen or dining room.

Floral patterns are a classic spring trend that can easily transform your home into a fresh and inviting space. And introducing greenery is the perfect next step to complete the look.

BRING IN GREENERY

Bringing in greenery is an effortless way to add some life and color to your home this spring. You can start by adding a few potted plants to your living room or kitchen shelves. Plants like succulents, ferns, and snake plants are relatively easy to care for and can thrive in low-light conditions.

Consider hanging some plants from your ceiling or putting them on a windowsill. You can also create a beautiful centerpiece by arranging a few small potted plants on a tray or in a decorative bowl.

Not only do plants add a pop of color to your home decor, but they also have the added benefit of improving air quality and reducing stress levels.

Once you've added some greenery to your space, you can take it a step further by creating some DIY decor using natural materials like branches, twigs, and dried flowers. This is a great way to bring the outdoors in and create a cozy, rustic vibe in your home.

DIY DECOR

Not only do plants add a pop of color to your home decor, but they also have the added benefit of improving air quality and reducing stress levels. Once you've added some greenery to your space, you can take it a step further by creating some DIY decor using natural materials like branches, twigs, and dried flowers. This is a great way to bring the outdoors in and create a cozy, rustic vibe in your home.

If you're feeling particularly crafty, try making your own unique pieces, like a macrame plant hanger or a twig picture frame. There are plenty of online tutorials and inspiration available to get you started. Not only is DIY decor budget-friendly, but it also adds a personal touch to your home that store-bought items just can't match.

Now that you've added some greenery and created some unique DIY decor pieces, it's time to mix and match textures to really bring your space to life.

MIX AND MATCH TEXTURES

One way to transform your home on a shoestring is by mixing and matching textures in your decor. This simple technique can add depth and interest to any room. One way to start is by incorporating different fabrics, such as a cozy knit throw on top of a sleek leather couch or a fluffy wool rug under a rustic wooden coffee table.

LAYERING

Another way to incorporate texture is through layering. This can be achieved by layering different textiles such as a patterned rug on top of a solid-colored carpet or layering throw pillows with different textures and patterns on a bed or couch.

Remember, the key to successful texture mixing is variety. Experiment with different patterns, materials, colors. With a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can create a visually stunning and cozy space that you'll love spending time in.

WALL HANGING

Wall hangings and artwork can also provide opportunities for texture mixing. Add a woven tapestry to a wall along with a framed print for a unique contrast. You can also experiment with combining different materials, such as a metallic vase on top of a natural stone table.

In conclusion, transforming your home for spring doesn't have to be a costly affair. With a few creative tips, you can give your space a fresh and vibrant look without breaking the bank. By maximizing natural light, embracing pastels and florals, adding greenery, trying a few DIY decor projects, and mixing textures, your home will radiate the warmth and beauty of the season. As you embark on your spring decorating journey, remember that every little change counts. As the saying goes, "small progress is still progress," so take it one step at a time and enjoy the process. So go ahead, let spring in and make your home a cozy and inviting oasis that you and your loved ones will relish.

HOW TO MAKE WINTER DECORATIONS AFTER CHRISTMAS MORE AFFORDABLE

After the Christmas season is over and the decorations are taken down, many people start to think their homes seem bare.  Some welcome this time as an opportunity for a fresh start to the New Year.  Others feel that without Christmas Decorations their homes are dull and boring, but what if you could make your home look as beautiful without Christmas Decorations?  Decorating for winter is one of the most popular ways to get rid of winter blues.  It's easy to do, and it can be done with little to no cost.

ELIMINATE THE RED CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Christmas is often associated with the color red. Get rid of the red decorations in your home before you begin decorating after the holidays. All Christmas decorations, including stockings, ornaments, and other items, should be taken down.

PINE CONES

Winter decorating is about natural elements, and Pine cones are a great way to incorporate nature into your winter decor’. There are many uses of pine cones as decorations, and the winter decorating is one of them. A common idea is to put pine cones you have in a vase or small tray with candles so they can be utilized as a centerpiece or tabletop decoration or for a winter dinner setting.

BLANKETS,THROWS AND PILLOWS

Fabrics that are cozy and warm are another element of winter  Everyone has a cozy throw to lay across the sofa, so use it in your winter decorations.  If your throw is themed for a season that is not winter, you’ll have to buy a throw.  I was able to get a throw for only $7.00 while shopping at my local drugstore.  However, I seen throws for a discount price at varies stores.  If you can’t find a cheap one there are some at Amazon.

Pillows are also a staple of winter decorating. I’ve also seen these around for a low price. However, the most cost effective means of buying pillows is to get a pillow inserts. You can change out the covers more frequently.  If you are really trying to save, you should look at the many different places around the internet that show how to make a throw pillow.

LIGHTS

CANDLES

Candles are a great decoration for the winter season.  Candles are available in good-smelling scents, in addition to a bit of a cozy feel.  Candles can be bought cheaply at the dollar store or gotten for free around the house (just make sure the candles are not reminisce of Christmas.)

STRING LIGHTS

String lights aren't for the Christmas tree anymore. String lights are another light source

you can use for decorations. If you have clear lights leftover from Christmas you can use

these for your winter decorations. Strings lights can look good simply by putting them

in a jar or using with another decoration or alone. Those who want a fairy core aesthetic

will love the twinkle of these lights.

WREATH

Plain wreaths are another Christmas item that can be used as winter decor.  Many find these

a great way to make the winter season festive. Transform holiday wreaths to winter wreaths

by removing all the things that made it a Christmas wreath.

HOT COCOA BAR

Holiday hot cocoa bars are quickly becoming a holiday staple. However, they can be

used throughout the winter season as a cozy little retreat. If you have a hot cocoa bar replace
holiday mugs with regular mugs. Of course, remove any other holiday items and you will
have it. You can choose to add snowmen decor or a snowflake decor, but it really doesn't
matter

It is best that you plan ahead and incorporate these items into your holiday decorations.
You should decorate with your living room in mind, and perhaps after Christmas. it should
be easier and cheaper to take the Holiday out and while leaving the winter in.

CREATE A STUNNING HOLIDAY TABLESCAPE ON A BUDGET

Holiday tablescapes are beautiful to look at and can be pricey.  However, once you know how a tablescape is achieved you can create a beautiful holiday tablescape on a budget.

WHAT IS A TABLESCAPE

A tablescape is a creative arrangement of items gathered and placed on top of the table. It simply is a term used to describe the combination of table centerpieces and the table setting.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A TABLESCAPE

  •  A tablecloth, runner, or place mats
  •  Plates, bowls, and other necessary dinnerware
  •  Stemware
  •  Utensils
  •  Napkins
  •  A centerpiece

To take your tablescape to the next level you can add these additional items such as:

  • Candles (gotten at dollar store)
  • Chargers (these can be brought at the dollar store)
  • Name tags (these can be handmade)
  • Napkin rings (these can be gotten at any discount store, or handmade)
  • Other decorations

If on a budget I strongly suggest that you look around your house before purchasing anything. In fact, If you decorated for fall you probably can move the decorations around to borrow for your holiday tablescape.

CENTERPIECES

A centerpiece is a must to bring the design of your table settings together.  Centerpieces should be made and brought at the dollar store and discount stores.  You can also repurpose items from around your house (this is preferred).

Centerpieces can have candle holders, dough bowls, ribbons, copper accents, flowers, velvet pumpkins, and other fall decor pieces.

HOW TO CREATE A HOLIDAY TABLESCAPE

Choose a color scheme

Choosing a color scheme for your tablescape is very important.  The color scheme should not be too matchy-matchy, but you want colors that complement each other.

Table runner

A tablecloth or a table runner is important in my opinion.  Although, if you're creating a holiday tablescape on a budget, a table runner is the best solution.

Layers

To achieve a layered look, set the table using your dishes, glasses, and utensils using the rules of etiquette.  Don't be afraid to mix dishes and napkins.  This sometimes brings character to your table.

Add height

Your glasses will give some height, but use your centerpiece for height as well.  Keep in mind that candles can also give height.  Candles are a popular feature in tablescapes.

HOW TO CREATE A TABLESCAPE ON A BUDGET

1. The first rule of setting a tablescape is to repurpose items from your house. This is a major money saver.

2. The tablecloth is another means of saving money.  If you're trying to save a tablecloth is not recommended.  Use a table runner instead.

3. Table runners can be brought cheaply or made.  Make a table runner out of tablemats lined together. Hide the edges under the centerpiece.  You can also
use a scarf, or throw or buy a piece of fabric to use as a centerpiece.

4. Most of the things you need to achieve an amazing tablescape can be brought at the dollar store or discount stores

5. Be creative and create your own centerpiece.

  • Some ideas for your centerpiece.
  • Using garland with candles can make an amazing budget-friendly combination.
  • Fill a dough bowl with pumpkins.
  • Vase of flowers
  • Use small lanterns as an alternative to candle holders
  • Unique object (this may be from an antique store or passed down from a relative)

HOW MUCH DOES A HOT COCOA BAR COST

Hot Cocoa Bars are a fun way to serve hot cocoa for a large or small group when it's cold outside. However many think that a hot cocoa bar may be out of reach financially. There are several ways to have a customize hot cocoa bar while on a budget.

THEME

I think you can save on a lot of things if you just plan, and the hot cocoa bar is no exception. The first thing you should do is settle on a theme.  This isn't necessary, but it may be easier. A few ideas are buffalo check, Christmas, gingerbread, Grinch, and Santa theme.

SIZE

After that, you should decide what you would like for your hot cocoa bar. If you are having a hot cocoa bar for a party you may want a larger hot cocoa bar.  For personal use, a small simple one will do.

LOCATION

The size of your bar will determine where to set up the hot cocoa station. However, it may be that the size of your bar is determined by the size of the space you have. If using this for a large group, choose a part of your home with enough space for people to crowd around the table.

SUPPLIES

While disposable coffee cups might look more uniform, the cups may not be within the budget. Use mugs from your collection or buy a few at your dollar store. The look of a mismatched collection of coffee mugs is great and very economical.

The most important part of any hot cocoa bar is the...hot cocoa. Store-bought cocoa is perfectly fine, but most have a mixture of store-bought and homemade. You can use your coffee maker or crock-pot to make the hot cocoa. I suggest keeping water and/or milk in a stainless steel water bottle by the bar.

Note: Only keep milk out for a maximum of 2 hours.

The fun part is choosing the toppings. Some popular toppings are marshmallows, candy pieces, candy canes, chocolate pieces, cinnamon sticks, and sprinkles. I've also seen some syrups incorporated. There are also some extras like cookies and other candies.

SET-UP

You can just buy a hot cocoa kit or make your own. I found several kits you can buy if you're looking for something simple.  (Hot chocolate, peppermint candies, and marshmallows). The cheapest I found was at Big Lots for under $15.

BIG LOTS

If you're going for something more, a little craft project will be in order. I suggest going to the dollar store to pick up decorations and some of the edible products in your arrangement. Most of the decorations you need should be here, if not you should check other discount stores.

partieswithacause

This setup was around $15 see how it was done here.

prudentpennypincher

A simple set-up cost around $15. Most moderate cocoa bars can be easily created for  around $30. Unless you're willing to spend the money or are buying a simple set-up the best thing is to do a craft project.

CHRISTMAS DECORATING ON A BUDGET : HERE'S HOW

When it comes to Christmas decorating, a lot of us like to go all out. We want to keep up with the Christmas decoration trends, but money is an issue. Luckily there are a lot of easy Christmas craft ideas around the internet.

Well-placed decorations beat trends any day.

To save even more money, there are traditions using candy

canes as decor for the tree.  You may even want to spend  money on a few ornaments for your tree.

Also, I have to  how to use real candy canes and peppermints to decorate using the candy cane theme.

She also uses cheap ornaments to complete the look.

When it comes to Christmas decorating, I always suggest that the house should at least have one
