You’ve probably been  in a Pinterest scroll when a bold, quirky trend caught your eye. This pinterest trend is cherry-coded decor—a playful, retro-inspired look that’s full of charm and easy on the wallet. Pinterest predicts it’s about to blow up, but the good news? You don’t need to spend big to try this aesthetic in your home. Let's take a look at this fun trend and find ways to incorporate cherry-coded decor into your  home decor.

WHAT IS CHERRY-CODED DECOR?

CHERRY-CODED IS A FUN MIX OF:

  • Cherry motifs and prints
  • Retro diner vibes (think red + white, gingham, chrome)
  • Whimsical, slightly kitschy touches
  • Pops of bold color in otherwise simple spaces

WHY CHERRY DECOR WORKS SO WELL FOR BUDGET DECORATING

CHERRY-CODED STYLE ISN’T JUST ADORABLE—IT’S SMART FOR BUDGET DECORATORS, TOO. HERE'S HOW:

    • Small pieces = You don’t need to redo a whole room—just a few cherry touches go a long way.
    • Thrift-friendly = The retro theme makes it ideal for vintage finds and secondhand treasures.
    • Totally DIY-able. = Most of the best cherry-coded pieces can be crafted at home for just a few bucks.

BUDGET-FRIENDLY CHERRY DECOR IDEAS TO TRY

Here are my favorite ways to tap into the cherry-coded vibe without blowing your budget:

DIY CHERRY WALL ART
Paint simple cherry shapes onto a dollar store canvas, or cut them from scrapbook paper and frame them. For extra flair, use a gingham background!

CHERRY MUGS & KITCHENWARE
Check your local thrift shop or dollar store for cherry-print mugs, bowls, or plates. They’re adorable on open shelves or displayed on hooks.

Tip: Don’t need them all to match—mismatched is part of the charm.

GINGHAM GOODNESS

Red gingham is a cherry-coded staple. Look for:

  • Vintage tablecloths
  • Napkins
  • Even pajama pants you can turn into pillow covers

Cost-saving idea: Sew your own no-zip pillow covers from old fabric scraps.

POM-POM CHERRY GARLAND

Grab some red pom-poms, green felt, and a hot glue gun. String together a cherry garland that looks great over shelves, mirrors, or mantels.

Cost: Around $3 for supplies

CHERRY STICKERS & DECALS

Decorate jars, planters, notebooks, or even your mirror with cherry-themed stickers or vinyl decals. It’s renter-friendly and zero-commitment.

Where to look: Dollar Tree, Etsy, or even print your own at home!

TIPS TO STYLE CHERRY DECOR WITHOUT GOING OVERBOARD

  • Stick to a simple palette: Red + white, or red + pink for a cohesive vibe.
  • One pop per room: A cherry-coded pillow or print is often enough!
  • Swap it in seasonally: Use it as your fun summer decor, then rotate it out when fall hits.

FINAL THOUGHTS: SWEET STYLE, SMALL BUDGET—YOUR TURN!

Cherry-coded decor is proof that you don’t need a big budget to follow big trends. With a few creative touches—some thrifted, some DIYed—you can bring this playful, retro vibe into your home in a way that feels fun, fresh, and *uniquely you. Trying the trend only requires you to start small, which is efficient. Who knows you may end up liking the color and the accessories.  Are you into the cherry-coded trend? KITCHEN TRENDS THAT WILL LAST

COLORFUL KITCHENS

All white Kitchens aren't completely out.    There still is some white, such as white upper cabinets and blue lower cabinets.  More color will make its way into the kitchen, well... maybe a lot of color.

Places to incorporate color in the kitchen would be the backsplash, countertops, or even appliances. One color that continues to be seen is navy, other colors of nature are also popular as well.

COUNTERTOPS

Countertops will follow the trend of earth tones and natural materials.  A play off of nature is marble, this stone is also going to continue to be popular. Another stone that is of note is quartz, it's predicted to replace granite which is greatly appreciated by the budget decorators.

SLAB BACKSPLASHES

A lot of homeowners are turning to slab backsplashes instead of subway tiles.  Slab Backsplashes are taken from the material of the countertops They run up the wall into a backsplash.

Another notable thing here is sometimes wallpaper will be is used instead of backsplashes. Backsplashes serves as the decor focal in the kitchen. It defines the style of your work area, while giving your kitchen a personality.

SHELVES

Open shelves have been a thing for a while now, but many have not taken part in this.  Well... there is a new trend on the horizon that will make some people think about shelves in the kitchen again.  Using these shelves are a good way to personal touch into space.  It also holds antique cookware and things frequently or never in use.

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 26, 2022

When writing this post I wanted to list only the kitchen trends that will stand the test of time.  After all, anyone on a budget can't afford kitchen trends that only last a year.  I decided to only list those the kitchen trends that will last.

COLORFUL KITCHEN

The white kitchen is still out. Basically colorful kitchens are seen more and more. I think the most economical way to add color to your kitchen is with a backsplash.

COUNTERTOPS

Quartz countertops are still seen today.

SHELVES

Shelves are still a thing.  In fact, they are more popular now than ever.  People are still using them for antique cookware and things that are not frequently used, or not at all.
