The main colors used in this style are black, white, and gold, although other bright colors like red, blue, and green are also used. Both of these art movements have had a lasting impact on art, architecture, and design and their influence can still be seen today.

POST-MODERNISM INTERIOR DESIGN STYLE

Post-modern interior design was a design style created to break free from mid-century modernism. Postmodern interior design was a popular design style that reached its greatest height between the years of the 1970s through the 1990s. The toned down of this style in today's homes is comprised of more muted hues.

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF POST-MODERN INTERIOR DESIGN?

Postmodern design is often characterized by saturated colors, loud patterns and complexity. Post modern design transforms everyday designs into something more interesting.

WHAT IS THE COLOR PALETTE

Bold colors defined this style. Today, the post-modern design style can be defined as a mixture of retro shades. It also includes colors like burnt orange, avocado green, mustard, along with metallic tones, although some bold color is welcome.

PATTERNS AND TEXTURES

Textures associated with this style are natural woods, chunky knits, and rich materials like velvet and fur. There is alot of laying in this design.

Post-Modern design is filled with bold patterns.  This style includes lots of stripes, dots, checker and even wavy patterns and shapes.

FURNITURE

Chunky profiles, pedestal tables, low coffee tables or coffee tables with short legs, rounded seating, and waterfall tables.  Post modern furniture generally uses tubular and spherical shapes and fluted finishes.

ART AND ACCESSORIES

If you are trying to buy artwork for this design abstract art would be perfect. Pop art is also a popular art for this design style . Most art of the style is playful in nature.

Accessories should be bold with plenty of color or patterns.  There are also accessories with interesting shapes.

 GET THE LOOK ON BUDGET

To incorporate this style use some DYI abstract art or buy pop art and accessories. Painting the walls with a bold pattern will also help.

I strongly suggest that you leave the furniture alone, but you may find a interesting piece at a place at places like the Thrift store or Facebook market place.

Some key pieces you should look out for are a pleated lamps or lamp shade,a wavy mirror and mushroom lamps.  Also a weird shaped vase is a great way to incorporate this design style into your decor.

This design style is for the young at heart. Interesting pieces are key to having this design style.

MAXIMALIST DESIGN : WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

Maximalism is a design trend focusing on a story about the owner of the space.  It's more about bringing in loved colors, patterns, and decorations.  Maximalist design differ from minimalism or warm minimalism in that maximalist design is a celebration of color, and it's main principal is "more is more". A quick example of what maximalist design, would be my grandmother's house filled with trinkets and photos of family members everywhere.

After hours of research into this design trend, I come to realize that it is a design trend that most on a budget would love and a design style (in my opinion) will stay around for awhile.

A maximalist space is a space that is filled with color and personal items.  If you're afraid of color you won't like this design style. Those who have a collection of items will love this style. Those who love to read will like this style. Finally anyone who loves DYI projects and thrifting this design style is for you.

GET THE LOOK

The color palette for a maximalist design space is mostly bold colors.  Although, neutral colors can be use they are often paired with bright colors.  Pastel colors can also be used, but should be paired with bold prints.

FURNITURE

Any furniture is welcome here but, thrift store finds, inherited, vintage, or upcycled or DYI furniture is the star of maximalist design.  Dupes are also great for maximalist style. Those on a budget should not change their furniture much at all.

ACCESSORIES

Those wanting to do this style on a budget will introduce books, pictures, and any trinkets that mean a lot. Collectables and books are really great.

ART

Gallery walls are also a staple of maximalist design. Those on a budget should stick to this.  If you want to spurge, go for big bold art.

PATTERNS AND TEXTURES

Another key is add a lot of textures.  I've seen some really bold patterns also.   A nice chunky throw and throw pillows with patterns will aid in nailing the maximalist design.

If you are able, a coat of paint is great to use in this space. If budget allows wallpaper with bold prints is great to incorporate into the space.

Maximalist Design seem perfect for those on a budget and those who love to decorate.

A Warm Minimalist interior is about balancing a clutter-free space, simple silhouettes, and clean lines but also adds natural textures. Unlike Minimalism, Warm Minimalism is a very personal design style.

COLOR PALETTE

Warm Minimalism has a simple color palette.   Warm tones and neutral colors make up this style.  The main of this element of this style is to stay away from pure white on the walls. White with a warm undertone is best.

FURNITURE

Warm Minimalism is bringing in smooth shapes and curves.  Although, old solid pieces or those DIY pieces that must be shown off may be incorporated into the space.  Old vintage pieces are more than welcome. Beware of too much furniture that matches.

PATTERNS AND TEXTURES

Using different textures is great for a warm minimalist space. Adding in a chunky throw along with a simple pattern or {no pattern at all} throw pillow is great. For curtains stick to neutral color and use sheer or no curtains if you can get away with it. Finally, rugs should be neutral or solid color{amazon has great rugs}, and if you can afford it, a nice jute rug would be nice.

ACCESSORIES

The few things that you will choose for this space, should be ceramic and wood.  Avoid plastics, vinyl, and other such materials.  Bring in plants and other natural elements.

ART

Large simple pieces of art are great for a warm minimalist room.  Since large artwork normally costs a lot I advised you to Make your own art.  This will add even more personality to the room.

If you incorporate these things into your space your home should look nice and inviting and not cold.
